Getting to the Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and Cabins
The Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and the Hanson Bay holiday accommodation is a 90 minute (140 kilometre) drive from Penneshaw and a 60 minute (100 kilometre) drive from Kingscote.
The Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is off the South Coast Road and lies between Kelly Hill Caves and the Flinders Chase National Park in the south western corner of Kangaroo Island.
We suggest the best route to Hanson Bay Cabins is via The South Coast Road. The turn off to Hanson Bay is on the left hand side, approx 4.5 KM west of Kelly Hill Caves. Please note Hanson Bay Road is an unsealed (dirt) road approximately 3.5km long.
We suggest the best route to Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and Farmhouse Hostel is also via The South Coast Road (See map).
Please Note( Farmhouse and Wildlife Sanctuary guests):
Do not turn down the dirt road pointing to Hanson Bay (this will take you to the cabins), the Farmhouse is approximately a further 3km along the main road on the left hand side. Look for the orange flag and Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary sign. Follow the dirt driveway down past the Koala Walk Car Park or Farmhouse (both are signposted).
We suggest that you obtain a Kangaroo Island visitor information booklet, which includes a Kangaroo Island Map, from any Accredited Visitor Information Centre. This will assist you in planning for an enjoyable holiday on Kangaroo Island.
